U.S. demands Starbucks

The United States government demanded Starbucks, because the company fired a coffee barista or waiter at El Paso, Texas, just because the barista was a runt.

When the employee asked for a stool or small ladder to facilitate him to do his job, Starbucks rejected that request and fired him on the same day. The company claims, it could harm consumers and workers, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The commission, which filed a lawsuit on Monday (5/16/2011), say, Starbucks violated federal law by refusing to provide adequate accommodation to its employees, who were hired since July 2009 and was fired after three days of training.

"Starbucks has penjadi representative of modern American culture, to attract many customers are diverse," said the commission's lawyer, Robert Canino, in Dallas in a statement. "We hope that, when hiring someone with a physical deficiency, Starbucks can improve its brand image with the equal opportunity and access," said Canino.

Starbucks spokeswoman Stacey Krum, said the woman was employed in a probationary period and after three days, the responsible outlets decided that the work was too physically demand it. "Using the bench in the work environment is not a reasonable accommodation at Starbucks coffee outlets," said Krum.
